Graduated in 1999 G. Novosibirsk State Agrarian University, in 2002 G. received a specialization in work with dangerous infections at the Research Anti-Plague Institute (G. Irkutsk).  AT 2004 G. defended his thesis on the topic "Development of a method for cultivating pathogenic mycobacteria on continuous cell culture".

Leading Russian researcher of zoonotic pathogens in understudied / insufficiently explored reservoirs (marine mammals, aquatic animals, the bats, primates imported into Russia, mammals of aquariums and dolphinariums, as well as migratory birds).

Alekseev A.Yu. included in the list of authors of the Monograph “Laboratory diagnostics of dangerous infectious diseases: Practitioner. management” (2009 Mr.). As part of the Institute team, a number of developments have been carried out on the diagnosis of RNA-containing viruses based on immunological and molecular biological methods., including 9 patents for original and adapted influenza virus strains.

Over the last years of research, Alekseev A.Yu.. an analysis of some circulating zoonoses in poorly studied reservoirs in the territory of the Asian part of Russia was carried out, namely: seromonitoring of type A influenza in domestic cats and dogs; seromonitoring of toxoplasmosis in domestic cats and dogs; molecular and serological monitoring of toxoplasmosis, tuberculosis, Brucellosis, flu virus, morbillivirus, herpesviruses, coronaviruses in marine mammals of the Caspian, Black, Seas of Okhotsk, coast of the Arctic Ocean, as well as those kept in captivity; molecular and serological monitoring of dangerous zoonoses of the protozoan, bacterial and viral etiology in different species of monkeys, imported to Russia; virological and molecular monitoring of influenza, Omsk-hemorrhagic fever in aquatic mammals (muskrat); virological and molecular monitoring of viral zoonoses in bats. An assessment and analysis of the anthropogenic impact on the circulation of zoonotic pathogens in poorly studied reservoirs in areas with different anthropogenic and technogenic pressures was carried out..
