First-year graduate student at the Federal Research Center for Basic and Translational Medicine (FIC FTM) with a degree in Cardiology, Valeria Aleksandrovna Koltyugina successfully presented the results of her scientific research at two major scientific events, held on June 25–26 2026 year in Yekaterinburg.

As part of the VI All-Russian Conference with international participation “Mathematics in Medicine”, Valeria made an in-person report, and also presented a poster presentation at the VI International Congress “Doctor – Patient – ​​Society”: science and life". The topic of the study, “Predicting the clinical course of pulmonary embolism in comorbid patients using machine learning methods,” is devoted to the development of intelligent models, allowing to predict the course of one of the most dangerous cardiovascular diseases. The work is at the intersection of clinical medicine, big data analysis and artificial intelligence technologies, which today are becoming an integral part of the medicine of the future. The scientific supervisor of the study is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Natalya Gennadievna Lozhkina. The high level of the presented work was noted by the expert jury of the congress. Among 30 of competitive poster reports, Valeria Koltyugina’s research was awarded a III degree diploma in the category “Best Poster Report”. Besides, the author received a certificate for 100% payment for the publication of an article in the peer-reviewed scientific journal “Bulletin of the Ural Medical Academic Science”, which is an additional recognition of the relevance, scientific novelty and practical value of the research conducted.

Participation in the conference became a platform for professional dialogue between doctors, mathematicians, specialists in the field of data analysis and artificial intelligence. The presented work aroused the interest of the participants due to the use of modern machine learning methods to solve a pressing clinical problem - predicting the course of pulmonary embolism in patients with comorbid pathology. Such research is of great importance for the development of personalized medicine, because they allow for improved risk assessment, make more informed clinical decisions and improve the efficiency of health care delivery.
