Institute of Molecular Pathology and Pathomorphology FRC FTM (original name - Research Institute of Regional Pathology and Pathomorphology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences) created in 1992 G. in accordance with the Order of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS) № 54 from 07.10.1992 G. on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences No. 42 from 10.06.1992 G. (State Registration Certificate No. 11301 from 17.08.1992 Mr.) The creation of the Institute assumed the coordination of pathomorphological research in the East of the country and the development of key problems of pathomorphology - general pathological processes, which was aimed at identifying the structural foundations of clinical and experimental pathology and at developing methods for clinical and morphological diagnosis and prognosis of the most important human diseases.

It should be noted, that the creation of the Institute of Pathomorphology in Novosibirsk was not accidental, for Novosibirsk is the city of a whole galaxy of famous scientists morphologists (pathologists, anatomists, histologists, cytologists, embryologists).

From foundation to 2015 G. the director of the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Pathomorphology was its organizer - Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor Nepomnyashchikh Lev Moiseevich. Under the leadership of Lev Moiseevich Nepomnyashchikh, the scope of scientific research was significantly expanded at the Institute, created new directions, organized training of highly qualified personnel in the field of pathomorphology, morphology, cell biology, which contributed to the formation of the scientific school of morphologists, representatives of which are characterized by a broad scientific outlook, possession of the most advanced methodology of scientific research and are the successors of the traditions of outstanding domestic pathologists.

Currently, the institute is headed by a doctor of biological sciences, Professor Lushnikova Elena Leonidovna.
