Graduated in 1985 G. Tomsk Medical Institute, in 1992 G. defended her Ph.D. thesis on the topic “Study of the pathophysiological mechanisms of the generation of activated oxygen metabolites using the complex bio- and chemiluminescent methods", in 1998 G. – doctoral dissertation on the topic “Molecular and cellular mechanisms of oxidative stress development”.

The main direction of scientific research is the study of molecular and cellular aspects of redox homeostasis, mechanisms of development of oxidative stress in pathological processes, associated with inflammation.

Menshchikova Elena Bronislavovna made a significant contribution to the study of the role of imbalance in the system "prooxidants - antioxidants" and the involvement of redox-dependent signaling pathways in the formation, features of the course and resolution of acute and chronic inflammation, theoretical models of oxygen activation in reactions with metalloproteins have been developed, as well as monooxygenase reactions with cytochromes P450, in various experimental systems in vitro and in vivo, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties of innovative water-soluble hybrid phenolic compounds, the example of which shows the effectiveness of not only direct antiradical action, but also indirect, mediated by influence on regulatory signaling pathways, including those controlled by an antioxidant-response element.

According to the results of scientific research by E.B.. Menshchikova published about 300 scientific works, which have received high recognition from specialists - the citation index of publications (hirsch index) in the RSCI is 30, в Web of Science – 11, c Purpose – 11; over the past years, she has been the head of many scientific grants from the RFBR and the RSF grant. Under the leadership of Menshchikova E.B.. protected 3 dissertations for the degree of candidate and 1 thesis - for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences; she is a member of the Dissertation Councils D 001.048.04 and D 01.048.05 FIC FTM, scientific editor and executive secretary of the Siberian Scientific Medical Journal and the journal Atherosclerosis, RAS expert, member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission for biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences.

Menshchikova E.B. is twice a laureate of the European Academy Award for Young Scientists (1993 and 1994 Mr.), awards in memory of Metropolitan Macarius of Moscow and Kolomna (Bulgakov) (2020 Mr.), she was awarded the State Scientific Scholarship for Young Scientists (1994– 1995), Scholarship Award of the 43rd National Congress of the Japan Society of Clinical Pathology (1996 Mr.), has the title of Honored Veteran of the SB RAS.
