Laboratory founded in 2015 year at the phase of the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine (FIC FTM) in g. Novosibirsk.

AT 2021 In 1999, by decision of the Competition Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science, the laboratory acquired the status of "Youth" with the allocation of a grant from the Federal budget within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities". The laboratory is part of the world-class Scientific and Educational Center "Siberian Biotechnological Scientific and Educational Center" (presentation at a meeting of the Council of Young Scientists under the Government of the Novosibirsk Region 14.10.2021)

Main areas of work:

emerging viruses (emerging/re-emerging viruses), including the bird flu virus, paramyxoviruses and animal coronaviruses. Two large international projects are underway in the laboratory (Japan, China) in a new emerging field of science "Global virome" (Global virome); a number of Russian projects (RFFI, RNF).

A series of works in the international team on metagenomic studies of the microbiome of wild and domestic birds of various species, which are the main reservoir of a number of zoonotic infections, the main results are published in a series of articles.

The laboratory is the leading Russian team in the field of molecular epidemiology and ecology of animal influenza viruses. A monograph on the ecology of the influenza virus in Siberia was published- 2016 (From Marco, M.A., Sharshov, K., Gulyaeva, M., Delog, M., Ciccarese, L., Castrucci, M.R., Shestopalov, A. Ecology of avian influenza viruses in Siberia (2016) Siberia: Ecology, Diversity and Environmental Impact, pp. 83-160. )

Research methods – molecular biological, virological, serological, cultural, immunohistochemical.

Sharshov Kirill Alexandrovich graduated in 2005 Tomsk State University and after graduation he was hired by the SSC VB "Vector", where he went from trainee researcher to head of the laboratory. In August 2013 resigned from the SSC VB "Vector" and was hired as a senior researcher in the department of experimental modeling and pathogenesis of infectious diseases of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "SC CEM" of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, where through 2 headed the laboratory.

AT 2005-2008 years. Studied at the full-time postgraduate course of the SSC VB "Vector" with a degree in virology. AT 2010-2011 years. Kirill Alexandrovich completed professional retraining courses under the program "Primary specialization of doctors and biologists in working with pathogens of especially dangerous viral infections" (Federal Budgetary Institution SSC VB "Vector" of Rospotrebnadzor).

In March 2010 G. defended his Ph.D. thesis "Biological diversity of strains of the H5N1 influenza virus subtype, allocated in Russia in 2005-2009 years. from wild and domestic birds.

The main focus of the work of Sharshov K.A.. includes, but not limited, the following topics:

– monitoring of a range of zoonotic infections;

– molecular epidemiology of viruses;

– pathogenesis of infectious diseases (animal models)

-diagnosis of some significant viral diseases using molecular biological and immunological methods.

Kirill Alexandrovich takes an active part in the development of scientific agreements, writing and implementation of scientific projects for federal target program competitions, RNF, RFFI. Participates in planning, development and implementation of expeditionary work to collect material. Has experience in international projects (see list below) and more 15 business trips abroad (conferences, internships, field and experimental work). Takes part in teaching activities. Has a number of awards and nominal grants, more 150 scientific works, more 10 invention patents. Supervisor 3 graduate students.

He is an expert of the Russian Science Foundation (RNF).
