Activities: one of the main areas of work of the group is the study of the etiological structure of acute respiratory viral infections in the framework of cooperation with hospitals in. Novosibirsk, as well as the isolation and study of the biological properties of human respiratory viruses.
To study the role of influenza and other respiratory viruses in the development of severe forms of acute respiratory viral infections in hospitalized patients. Novosibirsk, carried out in cooperation with “Research Institute of Influenza. A.A. Smorodyntseva” Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (G. Saint Petersburg).
Evaluation of toxicity in vitro (cell culture) it's alive (laboratory animals) vaccine, as well as new connections, promising for use in medical practice.
Study of the antiviral activity of compounds and preparations in vitro (cell culture) it's alive (laboratory animals) regarding the influenza virus, including new strains of avian influenza virus, potentially dangerous to humans and mammals.

Graduated from Siberian State Medical University with a degree “Pediatrics” in 2005 G. and entered the postgraduate course in virology at the FGUN SSC WB “Vector” Rospotrebnadzor.

She defended her PhD in medical virology on the topic of the diversity of the influenza virus in people in Western Siberia. At the same time, a detailed analysis of the influenza pandemic was carried out. (2009 – 2010 years) and post-pandemic period in Western Siberia, the main antigenic, molecular biological, immunological properties of epidemically significant influenza virus strains. Shown to have antibodies to influenza A virus(H1N1)pdm09 in blood sera, collected before the pandemic 2009 – 2010 years. residents of different regions of Western Siberia. Data on laboratory-confirmed influenza cases were regularly reported to FluNet, a global influenza surveillance network..

Participated in the study of highly pathogenic H5 influenza virus in Western Siberia. The main virological and molecular biological properties have been studied, mechanisms of pathogenesis in birds and mammals.

Beginning with 2013 Mr., Kurskaya O.G. participates in regular monitoring of respiratory infections in children. Novosibirsk within the framework of the agreement on scientific cooperation with the Children's Clinical Hospital No. 6. Shown, more 70% acute respiratory diseases in children have a viral etiology, while about 10% cases of acute respiratory infections are caused by viral co-infection.

The system for isolation and cultivation of human respiratory syncytial virus in cell culture was optimized. A collection of human respiratory syncytial virus strains has been created and characterized, allocated on the territory of the Novosibirsk region in 2017 – 2022 years.

For the first time for the Siberian region, methodological recommendations "Comprehensive monitoring of respiratory viral infections in the population of Siberia" have been developed. The author: O.G. Kursk, I.A. Sobolev, K.A. Sharshov, A.Yu. Alekseev, N.V. Leonova, A.M. Shestopalov. The guidelines provide information on the epidemiology of infections, caused by respiratory viruses, including influenza viruses of birds and animals, as well as methods, used in the comprehensive monitoring of respiratory viral infections. Recommendations are intended for medical professionals and university students, as well as other specialists, participating in the organization and conduct of anti-epidemic measures.

Kurskaya O.G. is the leader of the research topic, performed at the FIC FTM under an agreement with “Research Institute of Influenza. Smorodyntseva”: "Study of the role of influenza viruses in the development of severe forms of acute respiratory viral infections in hospitalized patients" in accordance with the terms of the international program, carried out within the framework of the Global Hospital Influenza Surveillance Network system. In the course of this work, the role of various types / subtypes of the influenza virus is shown., as well as other respiratory viruses in the development of diseases, patients requiring hospitalization.

AT 2018 G. passed advanced training at Omsk State Medical University with a degree in Virology with the right to carry out medical or pharmaceutical activities in the specialty.

S 2018 G. is a member of the World Society of Virology (World Society for Virology).

2018-2022 head of the regional part of the International project “Global Hospital Influenza Surveillance Network”  under program c “Research Institute of Influenza. Smorodyntseva”: "Study of the role of influenza viruses in the development of severe forms of acute respiratory viral infections in hospitalized patients"

2014 – 2016 Head of the Project "Optimization of Diagnosis and Control of ARVI" within the framework of the state task “Study of the molecular and cellular basis of the pathogenesis of new and most common infectious diseases of viral etiology in Siberia in order to develop means for their specific and nonspecific prevention” (№ 0535-2014-0008).
