Graduated in 1971 G. Novosibirsk State Medical Institute, in 1977 G. defended his thesis on the topic "The role of glucocorticoids in the regulation of blood serum lipoproteins in subextreme and extreme conditions", in 1996 G. - doctoral dissertation on the topic "Lipoproteins of blood plasma: transport system for biologically active substances and xenobiotics". AT 2004 G. awarded the title of professor. Works at the Research Institute of Biochemistry (formerly IKEM) With 1971 Mr., With 1989 G. presently – head of the laboratory of biotechnology. In the period with 2000 on 2017 years. - Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Biochemistry.

The main direction of scientific research is the study of the regulatory and transport functions of native and recombinant lipos(apo)proteins in order to create new drugs and means of their delivery to organs and tissues.

L.M. Polyakov first studied the role of blood plasma lipoproteins and their protein components (apoprotein) in the transport of a number of biologically active substances and xenobiotics (steroid hormones, thyroxine, dihydroalprenolone, cytochalasin, actinomycin D and other anticancer drugs, benzylpenicillin, benzo)a)heather, benzanthracene and others.). The possibility of their use for targeted transport of various ligands into cells and subcellular structures of animals and humans is shown.. The results of studies carried out by L.M. Polyakov made it possible to formulate a hypothesis that, that the main mechanism for the penetration of lipophilic xenobiotics and certain substances of a hormonal nature into the cell is receptor-mediated endocytosis as part of lipoprotein complexes.

Author over 230 scientific papers. Led by reserved 2 doctoral and 6 master's theses.

L.M.Polyakov - Chairman Dissertation Council 24.1.242.02 for the defense of doctoral and master's theses at FGBNU "FITs FTM" (speciality - 1.5.4. "biochemistry", medical and biological sciences).
